
Imminent Signs of Spring

Certainly, we're going to have some more cold weather! It's the first week in February, but we're already seeing some signs of imminent springtime in Hopkins County. Daffodils are blooming, the grass is greening up, and things are beginning to look like early spring in Hopkins County, as you drive through the countryside.
Yes, it's still cool, but you can begin to make plans for planing Irish potatoes, which some gardeners hope to get into the ground by Valentine's Day, February 14th. And, local farm and seed dealers report that many people are already purchasing early season seeds, such as mustard, radishes, and other varieties, as well as their onion plants. Gardening will soon be in "full swing" for the season.
