Dixie Softball Association
Hosts Opening Ceremonies, Saturday

Despite cloudy skies and a few "sprinkles" on Saturday morning, the Dixie Softball Association managed to conduct their opening ceremonies at Lady Cat Baseball Park, and recognize a number of those that have contributed tirelessly to the program. An introduction of each team, in each of the leagues, as well as the board of directors, began the ceremony, with the posting of the colors, and awards presentation, and the "first pitch" to officially open the season followed.

Dixie Softball League State Director, Pat Belonowski, spoke to the group.

 

Louise Yates was honored for her over 30 years of service to the local league.

 

The family of Joe McQueen accepted a posthumous award for his years of devotion to the local
softball association.

And umpire, Porter Woods, was recognized for years of service to
fair play and sportsmanship.

 

Each of the Dixie League players this year will wear an insignia of
"DW" on their uniforms in memory of Dan Wrigley, who was an
active member of the league and passed away earlier this year.

 

 

 

 

Kyliegh Nelson won the award for selling $1800.00 worth of candy.

 

Michala Buchanan won second prize in the candy sales, and not pictured,
Carly Talley won third prize.



Adrian Williams and Lele French won the $100.00 drawing.
