
Como-Pickton ISD Hosts
Special Olympics

It was fun and games, along with friendly competition, as Como-Pickton ISD hosted the Special Olympics, on Monday, May 19th. The event began with opening ceremonies at 10:00 a.m. and beautiful, summerlike weather prevailed, as the sun shown brightly and temperatures were quite hot by mid-afternoon.
Young olympians from Como-Pickton, Rains ISD, Mt. Vernon ISD, and Sulphur Springs ISD participated in Monday's event.
A total of 58 athletes participated in events ranging from assited walk, to walks around the track, the 50 meter dash, softball throw, tennis ball throw, long jump, and shot put.

"It was a great day with the weather cooperating and everyone having a wonderful time," expressed Sheri Tate, of Como-Pickton, one of the event organizers. "It is great to see all the students participating and having smiles on their faces, as they compete!"
