It was a short homecoming for two members of the Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps as the entire troupe made their way into Hopkins County, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Wednesday morning. Wildcat Band members, Kasey Blezinger and Amy Webb are traveling members of the troupe for this summer and were delighted to show friends, their hometown of Sulphur Springs, and to connect with family and friends. The outstanding troupe had just completed a show in Edmond, Oklahoma, and spent the entire day in rehearsals at Gerald Prim Stadium, completing the rehearsals at approximately 9:00 p.m., with a full show for the spectators that came out to see the show, on Wednesday night.

"We're headed to Houston, tomorrow," explained Sulphur Springs member, Kasey Blezinger. "But, it's nice to be in my hometown and to show everyone what true Hopkins County hospitality is all about!"

"I think everyone enjoyed the Tex-Mex meal sponsored by the Band Booster Club, here in Sulphur Springs!" exclaimed Sulphur Springs member, Amy Webb. "They were really impressed with the hospitality and how nice the people in our hometown were to them! It's great to be home, if only for a little while, but I'm having the time of my life traveling with the troupe!"

"As you can see, it is practice, practice and more practice, every day," expressed Blezinger. "But, we're working toward the finals, that will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, in August, so we've got to get everything right, as we move across the country!"

"Yes, the finals will be in Indianapolis, on August 14th, so we've got just about three weeks to get everything choreographed and ready for the final performance," denoted Webb. "The show is coming together, but those in the audience tonight got to see the drills that we go through every day and the devotion that we must give to the show, in order to make it the best that it can be, for the finals!"

Members of the Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps were out in Wednesday's hot summer sun, practicing over and over, as they perfected their routine for the performance. "This was a typical day of practice," exclaimed Blezinger. "It's hot in July and August and that's just part of the devotion that we must overcome!"

"Everyone was excited because we had a nice field here in Sulphur Springs and plenty of room to 'spread out' for our practices," expressed Webb. "And, of course the Tex-Mex dinner was a real highlight, when you're accustomed to eating sandwiches, on the road!"

"We're looking forward to the mid-August finals in Indianapolis, but we've had so much fun and made such lasting friendships, that we hate to see it all end," expressed the two upcoming seniors from Sulphur Springs High School. "It's been a great, great experience and one that we'll keep in our hearts forever!"
