SSHS FFA Members Headed
to State Competition

A "banner day" for the Sulphur Springs FFA was enjoyed on Saturday, at the Area VI FFA Leadership Competition, hosted at TAMU-C, as the Sulphur Springs FFA Ag Issues Team took first place in the competition and will advance to state competition at Sam Houston State University, in Huntsville. Team members are: Hunter Allen, Sarah Halter, Lindsey Froneberger, Jaci Patterson, Carley Parker, and Taylor Swinson.The team presented their arguments on the use of GMO seed in production agriculture and its effect on the American Food Supply, as well as answering questions from judges, about their presentation and research.

 

 

 

Additionally,  in the Creed Speaking Contest,2nd place was won by Morgan Mayer, and she will be advancing to the state competition, also!

 

 

 

"We are very proud of these students," expressed Team Coach and SSHS Vocational Ag Teacher, Amber Norris. "Through leadership contests our students develop communication & agricultural advocacy skills!"

Students will be presenting their arguments at a number of area meetings as they prepare to win the state competition, in Huntsville!!!
