SSHS Math and Science Compete
in State UIL Meet in San Antonio

Thirteen Sulphur Springs High School Math and Science Team members attended the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association state meet in San Antonio on Saturday, March 17, 2012.

0ver 900 of the state’s top math and science students attend the TMSCA state meet to compete in number sense, calculator applications, mathematics and science (biology, chemistry, and physics). This meet is an extremely competitive meet and provides great preparation for upcoming district UIL.

The following students received awards for finishing in the top 10 in their grade level and event.

Angel Tovar – 4th Place (12th grade Overall Science), 2nd Place (12th Grade Chemistry), 5th Place (12th grade Biology)

Rebecca Sehnert – 8th Place (12th grade Mathematics)

Karina Rosales – 10th place (12th grade Number Sense)

Ariel Gonzales – 9th place (9th grade Number Sense)

Nathan Mabry – 10th place (9th grade Number Sense)

 

 

The science team consisting of Angel Tovar-Yanez, Rebecca Sehnert, Uriel Gutierrez and Thurman Allen finished 3rd overall.

SSHS competitors spent many hours in preparation for the contest, and for that effort we are very proud. Congratulations to all who competed.
