It was a fun time but with a "touch of sadness" as SSHS Theater Arts Director, Dawn Doyle, announced the officers of the Thespian Society for 2009-10 and said good-bye to a talented group of seniors. "We never want them to grow-up and go off to college, but it's the natural thing for them to do!" exclaimed Doyle, as she introduced a talented group of graduating seniors from her department. "But, this is truly a great group of students and they are going to be sorely missed!"

Doyle said "good-bye" to these eight talented senior, who are graduating from her program.

Doyle introduced seniors:  Cecily Adams, Patrick Collins, Brandon Fain, Stephen Kramer, Morgan Lutz, Cooper Welch, Brittany Lamphere, Anna Longino, and Jake Moreland, and told a brief outline of the many, many accomplishments each of the students had made both on stage and personally to her program. "Hopefully, I can manage to get through this without too many tears," exclaimed Doyle. "But, this has been a great group of students to work with and they have 'stepped-up to the plate' and become leaders in the department, throughout their senior year."

Doyle announced the 2009-10 officers for next year as: President, Brittney Wooley; Vice-President, Kelsey Brown; Secretary, Tiffany Stenger; Tresurer, Travis Hicks; Parliamentarian, Josh Bain; and historians, Parey Draper and Katelyn Cody. The officers were installed by outgoing president and senior, Morgan Lutz, who was accompanied by this year's officers.

The students and guests were treated to a wonderful Italian dinner prepared by Laura Teer and her staff at SSHS Homemaking Department. Parents made a variety of desserts that included a "rabbit hole" cake, in honor of the One-Act Play "Alice in Wonderland."

These two desserts were prepared by parents of the students and enjoyed by all, as they depicted "Alice in Wonderland" and
"Grease," both productions of the group, during the 2008-09 season.

New members inducted into the Thespian Society included: Caleb Brown, Jessica Cowley, Brittany Lamphere, Ashlyn Landers, Cassie Long, Anna Longino, Jake Moreland, Kristin Ramsey, Mikki Petty, and Alissa Welch. The students had to complete a number of requirements both on and off the stage to be inducted into the society. As their "initiation" they performed a series of character sketches to the delight of the audience.

These four students were inducted into the society, in a "dating game" format, where they were required
to immitate some character, to the delight of the audience.

Following the induction ceremonies, students were presented with "blooper" awards for things that they had done throughout the production year. The comical awards were well received by the audience and peers.

Cooper Welch was presented the Thespian of the Year Award by Doyle, while Stephen Kramer received the Technician of the Year Award. Morgan Lutz received the "Thespian Magness Award" for her leadership both on-stage and off, as she served the organization as the 2008-09 President.

"We'll be hearing from these students for many, many years," exclaimed Doyle.

Tuesday night's banquet ended in a slide presentation of memories of the 2008-09 Year.
