
Results from the Region 2-AAAA Spring Academic Meet
April 20-21, 2012

Eight students will represent Sulphur Springs High School at the UIL Academic State Meet in Austin on May 21-22, 2012. Students placing in the top three individually as well as those who are members of the top team in each event will advance to the State Meet.
Jesse Yancy placed fifth in Mathematics.
Reilly Hale placed seventh in Poetry Interpretation.
Miranda Caddell placed third in Headline Writing.
The Computer Science team of Shawn Tucker, Angel Tovar-Yanez, Kade Koon, and Devin Mitchell placed third with Shawn Tucker placing seventh individually.
In Ready Writing, Rebecca Sehnert placed first, and Colby Carter placed fourth.

The Literary Criticism team of Colby Carter, Madison Millsap, Ashleigh Wallace, and Sarah Forsman placed second with Colby Carter placing second, Ashleigh Wallace placing sixth, and Madison Millsap placing eighth individually.
In Spelling and Vocabulary, Ashley Clegg placed second, Jacqueline Tovar-Yanez placed sixth, and Ivon Gonzalez placed ninth. The team, which also included Silvia Gudino, placed second.
The Accounting team earned first place with Reagan Humphrey placing first, Jarred Cowley placing second, Justin Mathews placing fifth, and Dominic Ortega placing sixth individually.
In Current Issues and Events, Evan Meek placed eighth, and Ariel Gonzalez placed ninth individually.
Sulphur Springs ranked fourth out of 24 schools participating in the meet.
