A regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs ISD school board was held Monday, October 8, 2012.

 

PUBLIC FORUM

 

A public hearing was held regarding the district’s financial management report including the final 2012 FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) rating.  The district received a score of 67 points out of 70, with 52 points being a passing score.

 

No one requested to address the Board.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS

 

Kim Flores and Talisa Harris presented a report on the Educational Performance of the Bilingual/ESL Program for 2011-2012 school year.

 

A report was given of Red Ribbon Week activities.  Red Ribbon Week will be observed in SSISD October 22-26.

 

Randy Reed presented the Texas Association of Schools Boards Localized Policy Manual Update 95.  The update will be presented for approval at the regular November board meeting.

 

 

 

 

ACTION ITEMS

 

Along with routine matters, the board approved the following:

 

Resolution 5-12 approving submission of a grant application for Source Reduction and Recycling, which if granted will provide placement of a recycling trailer within the district to support recycling efforts.

 

Resolution 6-12 to approve joining the Texas Taxpayer and Student Fairness Coalition, with a contribution not to exceed $1,000.
