

SSISD Board Meets
March 8th
A regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs ISD school board was held on Monday, March 8, 2010.
PUBLIC FORUM
No one requested to address the Board during the Public Forum section of the meeting.
Patsy Bolton announced that Julie (Horne) Vaughn was recently selected as “Elementary Teacher of the Year” for Wylie ISD.
ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
Richard Crump, architect, reported on the multi-purpose building project.
Mary Lou Foster, High School nurse, reported on activities of the School Health Advisory Council for the 2009-2010 school year.
A report was given of the final findings of the Head Start Program on-site monitoring review. It was noted that the program was found to be in compliance in all areas.
A status report was given of three grant applications. TEA has sent two preliminary award letters to the district for competitive grant applications submitted on behalf of Sulphur Springs High School and Sulphur Springs Middle School. The other grant application has been selected as one of twenty-three finalists. A group will travel to Austin to participate in a one hour oral interview at TEA.
Randy Reed presented the Texas Association of School Boards Localized Policy Manual Update 87. The update will be presented for approval at the next regular meeting.

Written plans for the Head Start Program.
Textbook committee’s recommendations regarding textbooks being adopted beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.
School Health Advisory Council members for the 2010-2011 school year.
Head Start Refunding Application for $1,527,691.00
The 2010-2011 school calendar with a student start date of August 23, 2010 and end date of June 2, 2011.
An application to TEA to participate in the Optional Flexible Year Program.

A proposal from Southern Bleacher Co., Inc. for purchase and installation of bleachers at the high school track.
A proposal from Access Technology Solutions for purchase and installation of security cameras and equipment to be installed at various locations through the Secure Our Schools grant.
A proposal from Ingersoll Rand/RDL Supply for purchase and installation of doors, locks and hardware to be installed at various locations through the Secure Our Schools grant.
