SSISD Board Meets Monday

A regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs ISD school board was held on Monday, January 9, 2012.

 

PUBLIC FORUM

 

Board members were recognized in honor of National School Board Recognition Month.  Campuses presented cards, posters and gifts of appreciation to members. 

 

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS

 

Richard Crump, Claycomb Associates, gave a construction update on the new Middle School, Douglas, and the current Middle School.  Copies of the updates will be posted on the district’s website.

 

Doug Smith, WJE Associates, gave an update on the engineering evaluation of the floors at the new Sulphur Springs Middle School.

 

Judy Caskey presented a progress report from the Middle School Campus Improvement Team.

 

Betty Lawson gave a report on Special Programs Budgeted Funds for the 2011-2012 school year.

 

Randy Reed presented TASB Local Manual Update 92.  The update will be approved by the Board at the regular February meeting.

 

Sherry McGraw gave an update on the status of refunding of 2000 and 2003 tax notes.

 

 

 

 

 

ACTION ITEMS

 

Along with routine matters, the following were approved:

 

Revision to policy FO(LOCAL).

 

Contract with Horn, Smith, Wood & Preston Educational Consultants, LLC to conduct Superintendent search.

 

Budget amendments for September, 2011 through December, 2011 of the fiscal year ending August 31, 2012.
