Campus                                         Themes/Activities

 

EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING CENTER

 

A Book Fair will be held in the ECLC Library during Public School Week and during ECLC Open House.

 

Head Start 3 & 4: Will display by class specific modes of transportation

 

PRE-K: Students will discover Texas by discussing Texas symbols and Texas history as well as incorporating various hands-on-activities, emphasizing the Texas flag. Students will explore our Earth by learning to recognize our planet using books, hands-on activities, and a field trip to the Planetarium in Commerce, TX. Students will imagine different careers and jobs that they might like to have when they grow up

 

Kindergarten-Summer Hall: Will display the orbiting of the SUN-EARTH-MOON and Community display in 3 dimensional shapes, Presidential portraits, Space rockets and moon phases, miscellaneous Valentine projects. Handwriting activities, Plants (living-non-living), Math – Number Shapes, and Spring Activities.

 

Kindergarten-Fall Hall: Will display activities about Space, American symbols, Guess Who Silhouettes, Dr. Seuss books, and portfolios of their work all year.

 

Transitional First Grade: Will be displaying their work on Space and Discovering Our Potential

 

 

 

BOWIE ELEMENTARY

A Book Fair will be held in the Bowie Library during Public School Week and during Bowie Open House.

 

First Grade:  Will read Dr. Seuss books and illustrate the main character and themes on the lockers, doors, and bulletin boards. On display will be students’ work on digraphs, blends, families and rhyming words. Also on display will be “When I grow up, I want to

 

 

be…” student projects, and journals in writing, math and science. Parents will be given the chance to view the “Seasons of the Apple Tree” art project.

 

Second Grade:  On display will be student projects: Explore the water cycle, Explore the night sky, Explore famous Americans and discover patterns in the world. Also on display will be research projects about Discover Animals.

 

 

 

LAMAR ELEMENTARY

A Book Fair will be held in the Lamar Library during Public School Week and during Lamar Open House.

 

First grade:  Will "IMAGINE, EXPLORE, and DISCOVER" the depths of the ocean. Students will read books and discover life under the sea. Students will read books and discover life under the sea. Students will creatively write stories by imagining they are a deep sea diver and illustrate what they explore as they travel in the water. We will make creative art projects as we compare and contrast sea animals within this majestic environment..

 

Second Grade:  Will “IMAGINE, EXPLORE, and DISCOVER” THE MAGICAL LAND OF Fairy Tales. Through a study and EXPLORATION of various versions of fairy tales, students will have the opportunity to activate their IMATINATIONS. By using the familiar, our hope is to engage students in learning that will lead them to DISCOVER a whole new world of Adventure in storytelling.

 

 

 

 

TRAVIS ELEMENTARY

First Grade will display work on “All About Me” unit, the “Texas” unit, literature responses, discovering and exploring bugs and plants, Native American book, and book reports.

 

Second Grade will display “Me” booklets, writing journals, class books, mobile, occupation writings, student power point, and literature responses.

 

Scholastic Book Fair will be open March 4 - March 7, 2013. The book fair will be open

Regular school hours and they will be open for Open House March 8, 2012 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

 

Teachers will be in classrooms and students’ work will be displayed.

 

 

SSES

A Book Fair will be held in the SSES Library during Public School Week and during SSES Open House.

 

 

 

 

DOUGLAS

A Book Fair will be held in the Douglas Library during Public School Week and during the open house.

Guest speakers have been invited to tell about their careers and historical information. The science classes will display models of biomes and show examples of adaptations and food chains Reading classes will have example of their work displayed. Math students will display projects showing their work with multiplication, division and factoring. In the PE class, students have displays showing the number of miles they have WALKED ACROSS TEXAS this year and the students’ results after participating in Hoops for the Heart.

 

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Middle School will have a Book Fair in the Library March 4 - 8, 2013. 

 

Teachers will be in classrooms and students’ work will be displayed.

 

 

HIGH SCHOOL

Teachers will be in classrooms and students’ work will be displayed.
