Campus Themes/Activities
EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING CENTER
A Book Fair will be held in the ECLC Library during Public School Week and during ECLC Open House.
HS3-T1's the theme "Imagine, Explore, Discover" will be addressed through a variety of projects and activities completed by ECLC staff and students. It covers topics such as ecology, space, patriotism, careers, community, good character, manners, and music. Projects and activities will include theme-related journals, dioramas, mobiles, displays, poetry, student work portfolios, student booklets, home-to-school projects, writing activities, and special art projects.
AUSTIN ELEMENTARY
First Grade: Activities will include “All About Me Unit”, Texas Unit, Fairy Tales, Literature responses, guest readers and science experiments.
Second Grade: Activities will include “Me” booklets, writing portfolios, class books, mobiles, occupation writings, guest readers, fables and literature responses.
Third Grade: Poetry, guest readers, literature projects, symmetry in nature, solid geometric shapes, flat geometric shapes, video animal reports and biography book reports.
Fourth Grade: Activities will include a Texas Unit, biography reports from Internet, ecosystems, habitats and Black History Education for All.
ACE Class: Grades 1-4 will display higher level thinking skills on individual projects.

BOWIE ELEMENTARY
A Book Fair will be held in the Bowie Library during Public School Week and during Bowie Open House.
First Grade: Activities will include a theme around "Hot Air Balloon" in science and writing journals. Also Texas Symbols book and Black History scrapbooks will be on display.
Second Grade: Activities will include a theme around “Imagine. Explore. Discover”.

Third Grade: Activities will include "You're a Cover Star" about me activities, One Meter Designs, Power Point with pictures, Palindromes, Acrostic Poems & Notebook, Landform Books, Research Posters and Solar System drawings.
Fourth Grade: Activities will include completing a water cycle project that will be on display, books created by the students about "This Is Texas" will also be on display, Fraction Books, Gallon Guy Measurements and Inventions.
Gifted & Talented: 1st and 2nd grade will be presenting their projects from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Also 3rd and 4th grades will be presenting their "Live Wax Museum" from 7:30-8:00.
The 4th grade gymnastics team will perform at 6:30 p.m. in the gym
LAMAR ELEMENTARY
A Book Fair will be held in the Lamar Library during Public School Week and during Lamar Open House.
First grade: Will "IMAGINE, EXPLORE, and DISCOVER" as they travel to "INFINITY AND BEYOND". They will soar to the outer reaches of the universe in search of unimaginable, unexplored, and undiscovered information and knowledge.
Second Grade: Activities will include research on Influential People, Unit on Texas Symbols and history, Legend of the Bluebonnet, All About Me Posters, and art projects.
Third Grade: Imagine, Explore, Discover
Explore: Solar System - Mobiles, Order of Planets, Solar System Activities
Imagine: Writing Activities, Video of students on promethean boards-
"I imagine I was..."
Explore and Discover: "TALL Tales" TEKS 5A-10A
Discover: African American Inventors - Discoveries made.
Extra: Fraction Pizza, Fraction "Froot Loops", Author's Purpose Pie, Sequencing Polar Express Train and Money Piggy Bank.
Fourth Grade:
Students will Imagine, Explore, Discover:
Slavery/Civil War/ A Journey to Freedom, Famous Europeans Pamphlets, Inspirational Poems, Moon Phases
Students will Imagine: Creative Writings
Students will Explore and Discover: Gallon Man, Decimal/Fraction Chains, Improper Fraction/Mixed Number Foldable, Volume Sort, Geometric 3-D Objects, Erosion/Weathering Sort, Various Science/Math Experiments

TRAVIS ELEMENTARY
Scholastic Book Fair will be open March 3 - March 8, 2011. The book fair will be open
Regular school hours and they will be open for Open House March 8, 2012 from 6:30
to 8:00 p.m.
Teachers will be in classrooms and students’ work will be displayed.
DOUGLAS
A Book Fair will be held in the Douglas Library during Public School Week and during Douglas Open House.
Students’ work will be displayed in classrooms. Guest speaker and readers will be
invited. Hoop for the Heart activities will be in the gym.
Douglas will have a canned food drive for the Hopkins County Community Chest.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Middle School will have a Book Fair in the Library March 5 -8, 2012.
Teachers will be in classrooms and students’ work will be displayed.
HIGH SCHOOL
Teachers will be in classrooms and students’ work will be displayed.
