Crime Down in Hopkins County
For 2012
From Sulphur Springs Police Department
A Thursday morning interview with Sulphur Springs Chief Jim Bayuk revealed some good news, as he reflected on the crime statistics for Sulphur Springs 2012, in comparison with 2011. "We have to be excited that crime is down in Sulphur Springs for 2012, over 2011," expressed Bayuk. "When you have a year with no homicides, no sexual assault cases, and fewer burglaries, you feel like you've done a decent job in the community!"
"Knock on wood!" exclaimed Bayuk. "That don't mean you and your officers aren't working just as diligently or sometimes even harder, when the numbers don't add up. But, it gives you a sense of making some progress when you see these numbers come in lower than the year before. The criminal element is still in our community and we can't let-up just because of some good numbers. We'll keep working every day to protect our community and property, but it's nice to see something positive in our community, as well!"

Figures for comparison for 2011 and 2012 are include in the charts below!
