
SSHS UIL Brings Home
Sweepstakes Award From N. Lamar Meet

The SSHS Wildcat Academic Team won the first place sweepstakes award at the North Lamar Tommy Eads UIL Invitational Meet this past weekend. Friday night events included C-X and L-D debate and Ready Writing, with the remainder of the events being held on Saturday.
In L-D Debate, Will Horton placed 7th overall and won the coveted Top Speaker award.
In Ready Writing, Colby Carter placed 1st, Dalton Rutherford placed 2nd, and Ashleigh Wallace placed 3rd.
Math and Science events were divided up by grade level. In Number Sense, Peyton Howard placed 1st, Carter White placed 2nd, Nathan Mabry placed 4th, and Andrew Allen placed 5th in the 9th grade division. In the 11th grade division, Uriel Gutierrez placed 6th and in the 12th grade division, Karina Rosales place 2nd, Rebecca Sehnert placed 5th, and Angel Tovar-Yanez placed 6th. Karina Rosales also earned 6th place overall.
For Calculator Applications, Hanna Mattison placed 3rd in the 9th grade division, Justin Matthews placed 6th in the 11th grade division, and Angel Tovar-Yanez placed 5th in the 12th grade division.
In Mathematics, Andy Green placed 2nd, Carter White placed 3rd, Andrew Allen placed 4th, Hannah Mattison placed 5th, and Peyton Howard placed 6th in the 9th grade division. Uriel Gutierrez placed 6th in the 11th grade division while Jesse Yancy placed 4th and Rebecca Sehnert place 5th in the 12th grade division.
In Science, Uriel Gutierrez place 2nd in the 11th grade division while Angel Tovar-Yanez place 2nd and Thurman Allen placed 6th in the 12th grade division. Angel also placed 2nd overall and won the Top Chemistry award. The Science team earned a 2nd place win.

In Prose Interpretation, Jade Ausbrooks place 4th and Triston Pullen placed 5th, while in Poetry Interpretation Reilly Hale placed 6th.
For Journalism, Kendall Hopper placed 3rd in Editorial Writing, 6th in Feature Writing, and 6th in Headline Writing while Miranda Caddell place 6th in News Writing and 3rd in Headline Writing.
In Computer Applications, Wesley Harrison placed 6thplace.
In Computer Science, Karl Sehnert placed 3rd, Kade Koon and Shawn Tucker tied for 4th, and Angel Tovar-Yanez placed 6th individually. The group won the 2nd place team award.
In Social Studies, Evan Meek won 4th place.
In Spelling and Vocabulary, Jacqueline Tovar-Yanez placed 1st, Silvia Gudino placed 2nd, and Ivon Gonzalez placed 3rd individually. They also placed 1st as a team.
For Literary Criticism, Colby Carter place 2nd, Sarah Forsman placed 5th, and Maddie Millsap placed 6th individually. The team earned 1st placed.
In Accounting, Dominic Ortega place 4th, Reagan Humphrey placed 5th, and Justin Matthews placed 6th individually and won 2nd place team.
In Current Events, Colby Carter placed 1st, Evan Meek placed 2nd, and Ariel Gonzalez placed 4th individually, and they placed 1st as a team.
