Saturday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
Volunteers and members of the Sulphur Springs Symphony League "manned" the telephones and took bids, until midnight, Saturday night, all to raise funds for the Annual 4th of July Independence Day Concert and the Youth Strings Program, sponsored by the organization. "It's always a fun night!" exclaimed Markeda Fisher, one of the volunteers. "It's great how this community support charitable organizations and the things they try to accomplish to better Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County!"
A long list of items were presented on Channel 18 T.V. and the auction was conducted live on KSST Radio, where local residents bid on the items donated by both individuals and businesses for the effort.
"We raised over $9300.00 for the night, and want to thank everyone who donated items and who purchased them to fund our efforts for the coming year!" expressed member Carol Bridges. "It was a long night, be we all had a fun time visiting with everyone and hearing them make their puchases!"
