For area students enrolled at Texas A&M University-Commerce, Monday marked the first day of class instruction, and the beginning of the fall semester.

"We got a WALK the first day of class!" exclaimed one student. "The only problem was I had already driven to Commerce, before I learned that the class wouldn't be meeting! I wish I had known before I got up at daylight to make the class!"

Meanwhile, students were "getting accustomed" to the university life, most that are living in Commerce have moved into their dorm rooms, and now classes will be meeting and getting the semester off to a new beginning.

"I've got 16 hours this semester, and one of those has a lab," reported one student. "And, I've got several 'gaps' in my schedule, so I'll have some time to study, during the day!"

Some students, enrolled at TAMU-C, for the first time, have several "learning experiences" ahead, as they
learn to live away from home for the first time.

"My roommate is really cool!" reported another Hopkins County student. "She likes the same things I do and I know we'll become fast friends!"

For many students, enrolled at TAMU-C for the first time, it is their first experience living away from home, so there will be a number of adjustments, like making certain they are in the "chow" line at meals, doing their own laundry, and managing money. Other, will be commuting from Hopkins County, on a daily basis, as they continue to work at jobs here in Hopkins County, and balance the school and work schedules, as they work toward that college diploma.

"So far, so good!" reported another Hopkins County student. "I haven't met anything that I couldn't handle, but it's just the first day of class!"
