Lady Trojan Signs With TAMU-C
Wednesday
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a crowd of family, friends, and coaches that joined Cumby Lady Trojan senior, Taylor Gifford, on Wednesday afternoon, as she signed her letter of intent to join the TAMU-C Track Team as a pole vaulter, for her college choice. Gifford said that she liked the program at TAMU-C and the close proximity of it being to home.
Gifford, the daughter of Donnie and Lee Gifford, has been an all-around athlete, according to Coach Gary Parrish, she's been a member of the Lady Trojan Volleyball, Powerlifting, and Track Teams. She's received many honors, including Honorable Mention and Academic All-District for volleyball, a State Qualifier in powerlifting, and is the Area Champion in pole vaulting.

Taylor is joined by front row, Coach P, and back row, her grandmother, Marjorie West, and parents,
Lee and Donnie Gifford.

Taylor also participates in many extracurricular activities, including BETA Club, Hopkins County High School Leadership, and Relay for Life.
Taylor will be a part of the Regents' Program at TAMU-C, because of her academic excellence and will join the Track Team, in the fall.
A modest Gifford allowed that she's reached 10 foot - six inches in practice, and hopes to accomplish that goal, at this weekend's track meet at Dallas Gateway!
Taylor is congratulated by best friends and fellow Lady Trojans!
Congratulations and Best of Luck,
Taylor!!!
