Sulphur Springs Dodge Names
Joanna Foster Teacher of the Month
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a total surprise for Kindergarten Teacher at ECLC in Sulphur Springs, Joanna Foster, as she was named this month's Sulphur Springs Dodge Teacher of the Month, on Monday morning. Friends, family, fellow teachers, students, and the personnel at Sulphur Springs Dodge arrived at ECLC and presented Joanna with flowers and the opportunity to select the vehicle that she wanted to drive for the next month, as the winner of this month's award.
Foster has taught for 14 years, beginning her career as a teacher at Cumby ISD, where she taught English as a Second Language, for two years. Then, she began her career with SSISD, where she first taught ESL and then moved into her current position as a kindergarten teacher, at the ECLC campus.

Foster credits her love for teaching, with outstanding teachers that she had in school, and particular mission trip that she went on to South Texas, with First Baptist Church. "Growing up here in Sulphur Springs, I had some very outstanding teachers that inspired me," related Foster. "Then, when I was in Middle School, one summer I went on a mission trip with First Baptist Church, to South Texas. There, I met a little boy that had basically 'fallen through the cracks' of society. I was able to work with him and 'turn on his light' of learning and open new doors for him in both a spiritual way and as a student, who could read! That made my mind up to pursue a career in teaching!"
A graduate of TAMU-C, Foster completed her Masters Degree in 2012, in Leadership Learning, and says that the students are what bring her to school each and every day! "I love my students and having the opportunity to guide them toward a lifetime of learning is one of the greatest joys that one can have!"

So, you can easily see why students and parents nominated Joanna Foster for this month's SS Dodge Teacher of the Month Award!
Congratulations, Joanna Foster!!!
