Terror Trails Opens For 10th
Season, October 5th
by: Bobby McDonald
The thrills, chills, and screams can be heard throughout the woods of Wood County, as those seeking a Halloween scare and experience, begin travelling to Terror Trails for the 10th season. "We've added some new attractions for this year's event," exclaims Gary Hughes, one of your hosts. "We have a new 'Terror Town' on the haunted trail and a new pyramid scene for this year, and then, at the Haunted House we have a new 'freezer room' and padded room, to greet our guests!"
"One of the real added attractions to this year's venue is the 'Transylvania Pizza Parlor' that will be offering delicious pizzas from a stone-oven, that has arrived from China," advises co-owner, Lance Nichols. "We wanted to offer patrons some good food while they were waiting to go down the trail or upon their return to the concession area, following the tour, so we found this new idea of cooking pizzas with a delicious, crispy crust, and a unique smoked flavor!"

Last year's Terror Trail found over 6,000 patrons coming to the "haunted" venue and expectations are for an even larger crowd, with the new attractions. "It's a perfect place to come for some family fun and enjoy an evening with the 'super natural'," advises Snookie Timmerman, one of the veteran organizers of the venue. "It's perfect for both adult and children's organizations to get a crowd together and come down for some real fun!"

This will be the 10th year for the Terror Trail and will be the third year that the Haunted House has been featured, at the Wood County Location. Tickets are $8.00 each for the trail and the haunted house, with a combo adult ticket being sold for $14.00. For children under thirteen, it is a $5.00 ticket price for each attraction or a combo child's ticket for $8.00.

Some 38 students from Yantis High School and veteran performers, who keep coming back year after year, will be featured in this year's venue. "I began the second year of the production," explained Bubba Emmitt, one of this year's organizers. "And, it's just so much fun, that I keep coming back nine years later!"

Participants in this year's Terror Trails attended an actor's orientation meeting on
Wednesday night, to prepare for the nightly productions.
The money raised during the annual event is used to improve the facilities and then a substantial donation is made to the Yantis Volunteer Fire Department, to help with their operating expenses. This year, plans are to donate some of the proceeds for a scholarship to a Yantis High School student, for college expenses.

Terror Trails is open on October 5th & 6th, October 12th & 13th, October 19th & 20th, October 26th & 27th, and Halloween Night, October 31st. Should rain or other inclement weather be a factor, a decision will be made at 4:00 p.m., on those dates and you can call (903)87807501 to make certain that the venue will be open for the evening.

Hughes and Nichols invite you to call them for any other needed information, at the number above, and they will be happy to answer all of your questions about booking a trip to Terror Trails!
