Thanksgiving Day Accident

The name of a woman involved in at fatal accident, on Thanksgiving Day, at the local Furr's Cafeteria parking lot, has been released as being Belma Nadine Scharnhorst, age 84, of Cooper.
Ms. Sharnhorst had finished her lunch at the local cafeteria and was attempting to return to her car, when she was struck by a car, driven by a 72 year old Pickton man.
Investigating officers stated that the man accidentally hit his gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and struck the woman, as he entered the parking lot. "It was purely and accident and we expect no arrests to be made in the case," advised local police.
A Medi-Vac helicopter was called to the scene from Tyler and landed to transport Ms. Sharnhorst to Tyler, however, enroute, she began to have difficulties and was transported to the Hunt County Regional Medical Center in Greenville. She passed away on Thursday afternoon from injuries received in the accident, after reaching the hospital.
Condolences are sent to both the victim's family and the driver of the vehicle.
