With Surprise Birthday Bash

by: Bobby McDonald

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, with autumn like temperatures in the Birthright Community, when friends and family members surprised Hopkins County native, Tim Kelty, with a 70th birthday bash! Tim just thought his family would be joining him "out in the country" for dinner, but soon friends began arriving, all bearing good wishes!

Kelty, a local realator and owner of Century-21 Hometown, serves on a number of local boards including the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Board, Board of Directors of Guraranty Bond Bank, and he and his wife, Nita, are members of First Baptist Church, where they are active members of the choir. Tim served Hopkins County during the Sesquicentennial Celebration as the "chief jailer" and constructed the "jail" that was located on the downtown square.

"There's big crowd when just Nita and I's children and grandchildren come for dinner, but I had no idea that all of these great friends would be showing up!" exclaimed Kelty. "This is really great and I'm just eternally greatful to live in such a place as Hopkins County, where there are such great friends and people!

Hamburgers, hot dogs, and large birthday cake awaited Kelty and his guests, as the entire crowd shared a number of stories and remembrances relating to Kelty's eventful life in Hopkins County!

Happy Birthday, Tim!!!
