The Fall Festival Carnival moved out of town over the weekend and on Monday morning, it was an excited group of coaches, SSHS students, Board of Education members, and staff that were eager to "break ground" for the new track and field installation, located just south of the SSHS Tennis Courts. The new facility will be home to the Wildcat Track and Field Program and will feature a 400 meter track, for a total cost of approximately $600,000.00. The track installation will be contracted to Texas Sports Builders, located in the Metroplex.
Superintendent of Schools Patsy Bolton opened the 10:00 a.m. ceremony with an introduction of the Board of Education, as she commended them for their visionary leadership, in meeting the needs of the students of Sulphur Springs I.S.D. "We have a great board, that has the best interest of our students at heart, and they have provided for improvements within the system and continue to look toward the future growth, expansion, and needs of SSISD," expressed Bolton. "And, we want to thank the community for their continued support and having our children in mind, as they provide a quality education for them!"
