Are you looking for that perfect day trip, to get away from the stress and strain of the office? Do you long for a chance to just get out in nature and forget about the responsibilities of life for a few hours? The Mrs. Helen Lee Daffodil Gardens, located south of Gladewater, Texas, is just such an escape for the early springtime.

The Gardens were established by Mrs. Helen Lee, a resident of Gladewater, and following her death, the 918 acre farm is managed by the Helen Lee Foundation. Within the boundaries of this farm, is a four-mile journey into the wonders of God's nature and beauty........pristine streams, tall pines, hardy oaks, and thousands upon thousands of daffodils blooming.

You travel the dirt roads through the property at your own pace, can stop for a picnic lunch, or just sit by the peaceful streams and admire the beauty. There are thousands of photo opportunities and a highlight along the trail is a rustic log cabin, such as the East Texas settlers lived in, when they first came to this area.

The Gardens are open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., daily, from the middle of February through the month of March, depending upon blooming schedules and weather conditions. Roads are closed when the weather is extremely wet.

Calling ahead to acertain the weather conditions in that area is recommended, and you can contact the office at (903)845-5780.

Downtown Gladewater is home to thousands of antique vendors, so make plans to "make a day of it" and enjoy the beauties of East Texas, while shopping for that perfect treasure.
