Make It An Opryland Christmas

by: Bobby McDonald

If a place with millions of Christmas lights, theatrical presentations, and Southern Country and Western Music, sounds like your style of entertainment, then Nashville's Opryland Hotel is the perfect place for you to spend a portion of your holiday season. What started as a Hotel Christmas Extravaganza in 1984, has grown each year, until today it is a regular on the Top 20 Events to Attend in the Southeastern U.S. Each year, Opryland Hotel in Nashville "comes alive" with over 2 million lights, toy soldiers, holiday horticultural displays, and the ambience of warmth and memories.

The display is open from mid-November, thru the month of December, and serves as the focal point of Southern hospitality, for conventions, meetings, or just a family vacation. The hotel's horticultural department begins stringing lights in mid-summer and concludes with the always different Christmas presentation.

Inside and out, the Opryland Christmas display offers something new and different at every turn. Graceful waterfalls framed in colorful poinsettias and evergreen plants, nativity scenes, or the simple pleasures of family and food. Then, of course, every display has its own Santa Claus and his many reindeer.

Words cannot describe the beauty of the Opryland Hotel "dressed" for Christmas. It is a magnificent display of holiday fare, that is rivaled by none other, and offers the traveler a unique Christmas experience for the entire family.

Nashville and its many, many sites make a trip to Opryland Hotel a "must see" opportunity for anyone looking for a unique holiday experience. With the home of Country Music, the historic Parthenon, Music Row, and the spectacular Christmas exhibit, you're sure to be entertained, regardless of your taste!
