by: Bobby McDonald
"Things are certainly good in Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County, when you can make an announcement that you're able to allocate an additional over $20,000.00 to the seventeen agencies that depend on United Way for support," announced United Way Campaign Workers, on the lawn of Alliance Bank, Wednesday. "Because of the overwhelming generocity and support of this wonderful community, we're able to present additional monies to those that we help each year!"
Representatives of some of the agencies were on-hand, Wednesday to celebrate with United Way Campaign workers and staff, as they made the announcement.
The agencies receiving United Way Support and additional funding include: Lakes Region MHMR/Our Place; American Red Cross; Lake Country CASA; Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center; Meal A Day Center; Community Chest; Hopkins County Christian Alliance; NETSEO Trails Council of Boy Scouts; SAFE-T Crisis Center; ETCADA; Girl Scouts of North East Texas; Teen Court; Boys and Girls Club; CANHelp; Heritage Outreach Ministry Foundation; Hopkins County 4-H; and North Texas Youth Connection.

"When the final totals came in from the generous support that we were afforded from this giving community, during the 2011 Campaign, we have $20,046.77, to add to the previous allocated amounts that these agencies receive," stated Susn Berning, Executive Secretary of the Hopkins County United Way. "We can't thank our donors enough for their supporting these agencies who depend on us for funds, and it's great to be able to fund them some extra amounts, during tight bugetary times!"
"Thank You to Hopkins County!" added 2011 Campaign Chair, Ruth Ann Crowson. "It's great to live in a place that remembers and supports the less fortunate, regardless of the economic times!"
