"Weve got people showing up at these meetings just to see what kind of 'hair-brained' outfit we'll come up with next!" exclaimed Kayla Price, as her sister, Markeda, echoed the same sentiments. "We certainly made a game out of coming up with something different for each meeting!"

The sister duo of Markeda and Kayla had a very successful 2012 Campaign and celebrated the highlights of it with board members, on Wednesday, at the quarterly United Way Board Meeting, in the Hopkins County Extension Office. The sisters who were co-chairs of last year's campaign will serve as President of the 2013 Campaign.

Next, it was announced that several new board members had accepted a position on the board, Judy Tipping, Drake Clark, Tony Cook, Brandy Patton, and Larry Crowson. Each of the board members were introduced and they told a little about themselves at Wednesday's meeting.

The tension had built and it was time to name the 2013 Campaign Chairman and stating that it was someone who has been involved for a number of years with the organization, someone well respected in the community, and longtime service volunteer......it soon became apparent that Judy Tipping was the name to be revealed.

Tipping, a longtime educator in Sulphur Springs ISD and a native of Hopkins County, said that she had been involved in the campaign for so many years that she couldn't remember how long, and that she had served more in the "background" where she encouraged educators and fellow co-workers to contribute to the campaign. "I consider myself to be a quiet leader, one that is more behind the scenes," stated Tipping. "But, I decided when asked to step-out of my comfort zone and accept the challenge to chair the upcoming campaign and am excited to be on board and work in a different capacity!"

Tipping announced the theme of her campaign to be: "United Way....The Greatest Hearts on Earth, Making Needs Come True!" She related that her over 45 years of being in local eduation had taught her that Hopkins County was one of the most giving communities on earth and always found a way to help those in need!"

"And, with these two-heads backing me, I know we'll have a super campaign, this fall!" quipped Tipping, as she encompassed Markeda and Kayla in a hug!

I guess Kayla could "stich up" a dress for three to open the 2013 Campaign?
