United Way Campaign at 23%
at Second Reporting Meeting
by: Bobby McDonald
Enthusiasm was high and reports of successes across town were reported as the United Way campaign workers gathered on Tuesday morning for a reporting session. A number of large contributors to the campaign still haven't completed their collections, as their task is more monumental. However, the campaign reports a collection of $33,738.00, to date, and several large donations to come within the next reporting period.
"Things are looking good," expressed 2007 Campaign Chairman, Randal Voss. "Everyone is working hard and we've already been to a number of large industries to aid them in their collection process, so things look like they are on target to meet our goal!"
Cheers erupted as Donna Wallace turned-in the packet for Hopkins County Memorial Hospital,
at Tuesday's reporting meeting, and drove the campaign to 23% of the 2007 goal!!
The 2007 United Way goal is $145,000.00 and the campaign continues through November 2nd, when the four banks in town will sponsor a hamburger cook-out, at noon on the downtown square, with proceeds being donated to United Way.

"I'm excited about the way the donations are coming in," expressed Bob Weaver, 2007 United Way President. "It's just so rewarding to live in a place where folks give from the heart, to help those less fortunate!"
Voss and United Way Secretary Charlotte Henderson discuss the collections at Tuesday's reporting
session, as the packets came in and totals were tallied!
Watch the United Way thermometer that is located at the southeast corner of the square, at the junction of Oak Avenue and College Streets, as it rises toward the goal. And, for those individuals and businesses who have joined the "100% Club," of meeting or exceeding their goal, go to our special United Way Symbol on our main page and see a listing of these dedicated people.
Give to the United Way!!!
