United Way at 85% of Goal,
At Tuesday Reporting Meeting
by: Bobby McDonald
With just days left in the 2007 United Way Campaign, workers were cheering and excited that the collections had already reached 85% of this year's goal. A total of $122,776.00 had been collected at the reporting meeting on Tuesday, at 9:30 a.m., in the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce. "We're nearing our goal!" announced a jubilant Randal Voss, campaign chairman. "The goal of $145, 000.00 is in sight!"
The announcement of a large check from Hanna Construction for $15,000.00 and another large check from Flow-Serve in the amount of over $14,000.00 was among those contributions that pushed the total to the 85% mark. "We just want to continue to thank everyone for their generous contributions," exclaimed Bob Weaver, this year's president of United Way. "Everyone seems to be meeting their goal and even exceeding them!"
Worker reported positive responses all across Hopkins County and have high hopes of meeting their $145,000.00 goal. They will be meeting for a final reporting meeting on Tuesday, November 6th, to hopefully "wrap up" this year's campaign.

Lynda Hager, representing the Banking Clearing House, announced that the banks and their employees had met and exceeded their goals for 2007 and conducted a drawing from the bank employees. Big winners of savings bonds included Deana Hale of Alliance Bank and Delores Rhodes of City National Bank.

The four banks in Sulphur Springs will be hosting a hamburger cook-out on the Downtown Square, on Friday, November 2nd from 11:00 to 1:00. Hamburgers, fixings, and drinks can be purchased for $5.00 and all proceeds will be donated to the United Way campaign. The public is encouraged to come eat lunch and support the Hopkins County United Way.
