United Way Campaign
at $114,000.00
by: Bobby McDonald
It was an encouraging message from Campaign Chair, Judy Tipping, as she greeted members of the United Way Campaign, on Tuesday morning, at the weekly reporting meeting. She produced a "purple heart" signifying unselfish giving, confidence, and fun! "I'm confident we'll meet our $150,000.00 goal and help all 16 agencies that are depending on us to collect these funds!" expressed Tipping. "This fifth reporting meeting, is typically preparing for the final one, next week, and we still have a number of coporate contributors that are finishing up their campaigns, but all of us will see just how much each and every dollar for the campaign makes a difference to reaching the goal!"
Tipping began the collection reports by giving a "grand total," some of which had been reported in earlier totals, for Sulphur Springs ISD. She reported a total contribution to this year's campaign of $10,168.00 for the SSISD employees. "I want to personally thank my co-workers and the staff at SSISD for once again exceeding their goal!" reported Tipping.

As reports were received around the room, additional groups that had met and exceeded their goals were added to the "purple heart," and a total new contributions of $7,282.85 was received on Tuesday, bringing the campaign total to $114,145.38, to-date. "We're only about $36,000.00 away from our goal and I plead with each of you to go out and try to get your packets in by next Tuesday, so that we can finish the campaign and go over the top!" exclaimed Tipping. "The finish line is in sight with our corporate contributors and those last businesses that we need to contact to 'wrap up' the campaign!"
Campaign workers will meet next Tuesday morning, for the final reporting meeting, and are looking to complete the campaign by then, as they reach the $150,000.00 goal! Tipping challenged her workers to work hard and reach the goal, as the agencies are depending on the campaign to complete their work in our community!
