Milk, cheese, ice cream, and everything nice was the setting for the 2007 United Way Workers Luncheon, hosted by the Southwest Dairy Museum, on Friday. Campaign Chairman, Randal Voss, welcomed 2007 workers to the luncheon and thanked the Dairy Museum for hosting and sponsoring the luncheon.

Randal Voss, 2007 United Way Campaign Chairman, addresses campaign workers at a
Friday luncheon, held in their honor, at Southwest Dairy Museum.

Charlotte Henderson, United Way Executive Secretary, passed-out packets to workers and challenged them to have the "biggest reporting meeting ever" on October 16th, when the group will meet again to bring packets back, for the first time.

Keeping with the year's theme of "Keeping It Fun," Voss encouraged workers to close their eyes and thing of a favorite toy, they had when they were a child. Workers remembered paper dolls, Barbie dolls, Lego's, an 8-ball, toy tractors, and coloring books. "Those are things that many children in our community would not have the opportunity to enjoy, if the United Way agencies weren't operating in our area," expressed Voss. "It's our responsibility to the children to make it happen, by reaching our $145,000.00 goal, so they can enjoy them!"

Voss then introduced local, motivational speaker, Dwight Alexander, who gave the keynote address. Alexander, author of the book "Through These Doors," encouraged workers that "keeping it fun" is a mind set. "You must keep things positive. You're the ones that can make a difference and reach the goal of $145,000.00," expressed Alexander. "But, success is only as good as your smile and your attitude!"

Local motivational speaker, Dwight Alexander, delivered the keynote address at Friday's luncheon,
as he encouraged United Way workers to "look at the goal and believe that it is going to happen!"

"None of us are exempt from needing the services supported by United Way. None of us, today, think that we'll ever need their help, but 'in the blink of an eye' we can be dependent on them," cautioned Alexander. "I never knew the many wonderful things that United Way did, until my family was involved in a tragic automobile accident, and soon, I was dependent on all the many things they support!"

Alexander encouraged workers to "see where you are going" and "look at the goal and realize that it can be reached." Then, "believe that it is going to happen," stated Alexander. "Sometimes, it is hard to believe, but if you keep on believing, it will happen!"

Beautiful autumn decorations greeted United Way workers as they arrived for lunch, on Friday,
at the Southwest Dairy Museum.

Voss closed the Friday luncheon with a prayer for the 2007 Campaign, the workers, and the community!

United Way workers will be delivering packets to local businesses, immediately, so give from the heart to make our community a continued great place to live, work, and play!
