United Way workers were "ecstatic" that the first reporting meeting had exceeded last year's campaign
and was headed toward "Beating Bob!"
"Beat Bob!"
May Be New Theme For
United Way
by: Bobby McDonald
"Keeping It Fun" is the 2007 theme for the United Way Campaign and fun it was, at the first reporting meeting, at the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, on Tuesday. Campaign workers turned-in the first packets to Campaign Chairman Randal Voss and Executive Secretary Charlotte Henderson and the total was $15,876.00, exceeding the 2006 mark of the first reporting session by approximately $5,000.00. Cheers "went up" and campaign workers were definitely in a jovial mood, as they were ahead of Bob and Peggy Weaver's 2006 Campaign, that had set a record for Hopkins County. "I think we might just change the theme of this year's campaign to 'Beat Bob,'" allowed Voss. "At anytime we're ahead of his record year, we know we're doing O.K.!"

Workers reported a great experience in the community, as they delivered packets and came back to pick them up. "The Hopkins County United Way is in great fiscal shape and we have set a goal that will aid all of the eighteen organizations that depend on us and is attainable," expressed Voss. "We just need to get out and thank those who so generously contribute each year to make Hopkins County a great place to live!"
United Way workers reported a positive response to the campaign at Tuesday's first reporting
meeting, at the Chamber of Commerce Office.
The United Way Campaign will continue through the month of October, with workers reporting each Tuesday, as they look toward the $145,000.00 goal that they have set for this year. The $15,876.00 collection has reached 11% of the year's goal and workers are confident that Hopkins County will once again "give from the heart" and help them to attain their goal for the year!

The four banks in Hopkins County have scheduled a hamburger cook-out, on Friday, November 2nd, on the downtown square, where all proceeds will go to the United Way, and hopefully the packets will all be turned-in to realize the 2007 goal!
United Way workers "tallied" their collections, at Tuesday's first reporting session.
