Second Night of UPRA Rodeo Brings
"Spills and Thrills" In Civic Center

The UPRA Spring Rodeo moved into Sulphur Springs on Thursday night and brought it's own color and flair to Hopkins County, as cowboys and cowgirls compete for prize money and to move up into the finals standings for the final rodeo of the year, that will be held again in Sulphur Springs, in November. "This is the 31st year for the UPRA Spring Rodeo and we look forward to hosting the 31st UPRA Finals Rodeo, this fall," acknowledged Oscar Aguilar, Local President of the UPRA Rodeo Committee. "Everyone like the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center facilities and enjoy coming to Sulphur Springs for the great hospitality, and it gives our local community the opportunity to have two great rodeos each year!"

Friday night's rodeo began with "the little folks" as they attempted their skills at Mutton Bustin', and several had the thrill of holding on for an extended period of time, while others "bit the dust," soon after the gate opened, reflective of what they have in store, if they pursue a rodeo career!

The stock at this spring's rodeo was extremely tough and those in attendance certainly got a show and their money's worth, in the thrills and spills of the performance.

A number of bull riders and barrel racers were stage following the show, in the "slack," on Friday night. With additional action scheduled for Saturday morning when the "slack" for the ropers will be conducted in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center.

And, the Youth Boot Scramble was a popular event!

"We've had a great 'Western' weekend here in Sulphur Springs," exclaimed Justice of the Peace Ronny Glossup. "With the rodeo in town for three nights, and then a Western author and Western art at the Sulphur Springs Public Library, there's little excuse for anyone not to be completely satisfied! And, if that isn't enough, there is a Patsy Cline Musical being conducted at Texas A&M Commerce!"

Saturday night will mark the third and final night of the UPRA Rodeo Performances!
