It was a joyous occasion for members of the Hopkins County Veteran's Memorial Committee, on Tuesday afternoon, to accept the third installment in a $7500.00 donation to the construction of the memorial by West Oaks Funeral Home. "We back this project with everything," expressed Danny Campbell, with West Oaks, in making the presentation. "None of us would be standing here visiting, doing business, or living peacefully in this community unless the great sacrifices had been made by our men and women in uniform!"

Members of the Veteran's Memorial Committee denoted that construction was ahead of schedule on the memorial, as the end of last week, demolition crews began making way for the memorial's construction, on the downtown square.

A demolition crew was removing the stage area, on the downtown square, to make room for the construction
of the Hopkins County Veteran's Memorial, last week.

Also, members of the committee urged anyone that has a family member that needs to be included on the monument, for them to mail their name and information to: Hopkins County Veteran's Memorial, P.O. Box 533, Sulphur Springs, TX 75483. "We need the information to make certain that we include everyone who was reared in Hopkins County, lived in Hopkins County, or was born in Hopkins County, and served in our armed forces!" advised the committee. "It's a huge task to get everyone's name, but we certainly don't want to leave anyone out!"
