Heat in Hopkins County was intense, on Thursday, with temperatures in the triple-digits.

 

 

"Beating the Heat" On the Downtown Square
in Sulphur Springs

But, local youth found a perfect way to "cool off" in the newly installed fountain, on the
southwest corner of the downtown square.

 

 

Making my way to the downtown square in Sulphur Springs, around 8:00 p.m., Thursday night, I observed the thermometer in my jeep, still reading 98 degrees. Thursday was definitely a "hot one" in Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County. However, a number of local youth took advantage of the newly installed fountain, on the southwest corner of the square, to beat the heat. Despite the hot temperatures, a number of us "sat out" at the tables on the square, watched the children run through the fountain, and in the shade, it was quite pleasant to visit and watch the action.
