In Hopkins County

We've run several "cowboy" stories and told your about a cowboy who rode through Hopkins County, and made a cross-country journey, all the way from Dallas to New York City. So, it's time to shine-up those boots, starch those jeans, and get ready to "Get Western," on Saturday, July 23rd, in Hopkins County.

The day offers something for everyone, with the National Day of the Cowboy Celebration, planned for the Hopkins County Historical Museum, and a "Western" themed Senior Prom, at the Hopkins County Senior Citizens Center.

Enola Gay, the organizer of the National Day of the Cowboy activities, in Hopkins County, has planned a Cowboy Supper, Music, and other activities at the Hopkins County Heritage Park, with Dutch Oven Cooking, Western Swing bands, and a host of events to get you in the "cowboy spirit!" Activities are from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, for those 55 and over, Karon Weatherman and her staff of volunteers, at the Senior Citizens Center, has planned an evening of fun, too. The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a hamburger dinner, with all the trimmings, provided by Tim Walsworth of Home Helpers. Music and a western themed  dance will also be provided inside the Senior Center.

Mark your calendars for these events and make July 23rd a Western Day in Hopkins County!
