It was another exciting night of football for Wildcat fans as arch rival, T-High came to town, on Friday night. Along with hosting the T-High Tigers, three former Wildcats, Billy Watkins, Sheila Sims, and Scotty Lewis were inducted into the Wildcat Hall of Honor, in pre-game activities. And, the pre-drill participants took to the field with their older mentors, as an exciting climax to working out to be future Blue Blaze members. And, if that wasn't enough, Friday night's game featured a "pink-out" in support of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
But, when the Cats took to the field, they delivered a 45-25 victory that makes them 2-0 in district play and sets-up an important game on the road, next week, in Hallsville, who are now 2-0, as well. Likely, the winner of next week's "fray" will not only move into first place in the district, but could likely be named the district champions. Sulphur Springs faced Hallsville next week, hosts Pine Tree, the following week, and travels to Marshall for the final regular game of the season.
The Wildcats held the lead at halftime with a 25-19 score and added twenty more points in the second half to claim the second district victory of the season, but it was never a "run-away" game, as the Tigers continued to pose a threat, throughout the night, making it a very exciting game to watch.
