Wildcat fans packed Gerald Prim Stadium in support of the Sulphur Springs Wildcats on Friday night, battling intense heat, and the Wildcats delivered a very valiant effort, but needed "two more minutes" on the clock to claim victory over the tough Sherman Bearcats. The Wildcats had to settle for their first loss of the young season 49-44, as they saw the clock tick away!

In what proved to be a long and exhausting match-up, the Wildcats were on a momentum roll, as the clock wound down, and saw their hopes of victory, end. "We did some great things, but found some things we need to work on," expressed Coach Greg Owens. "That's what these pre-season games are for, and although we certainly want to win them, they're to gain experience and to see how we match-up with some good teams, and Sherman certainly was a tough team!"

Owens indicated that the Wildcats will be working on a number of things this week, as they look toward Friday night's match-up with the explosive Whitehouse, on the road. Known for their quickness and explosive action, Friday night will be another challenge for the young Wildcat team. "But, to score 44 points against Sherman, we definitely did some things right and we've just got to learn and get our plays down, before district!" expressed Owens. "We were an on-side kick away from winning Friday night's effort!"
