"How Sweet It Is......"

In High Scoring Match-up

"Record setting"......that's the only way to describe the Wildcat match-up with arch rival, the Mt. Pleasant Tigers, on Friday night, in Mt. Pleasant. And if the coaches in Mt. Pleasant were already saying "how do you beat Sulphur Springs," before the game, they are now really shaking their heads. When you score 65 points, in most cases, there's a "W" in your column. But, the Wildcats scored a school record 71 points and brought home a district victory, that will put them at the top of the "heat" in district 14-4A.
"I was exhausted from traveling up and down the field!" expressed Photographer Cathy Lumsden Bryan, as she would call me back the scores and progress of the game, on the cell phone.
At one time during the first half of the game, the Wildcats found themselves trailing by 17 points, but quickly made up the difference, and was behind 36-33 at the halftime intermission. Then, the second half continued with the high scoring game and the Wildcats added another 34 points to their total, with Mt. Pleasant "coming up short" with only a total of 29 second half points!

And, to say the least......almost everyone was exhausted, as they left the stadium, on Friday night,
but the Wildcats recorded an important District Win!!!!
The Wildcats will be back in action, this Friday night, at Gerald Prim Stadium, as they host T-High in another important district match-up, with a "little bit of a grudge" from last year's game in Texarkana.
Three former Wildcats will be inducted into the Wildcat Hall of Honor, on Friday night:
Scotty Lewis – 1990 Football, Baylor, NFL: Houston Oilers, KC Chiefs, Chicago Bears
Shelia Sims – 1992 multi sport, Arkansas on a track scholarship
Billy Watkins – 1990 Football / Soccer, ETSU - All-American Kicker
