This work camp group was working on a house on Ardis Street and had hopes of completing the task by
noon on Tuesday!

"Eat, Sleep, Work, and Worship"
Youth Give Back to the Community

Paint was "splattered" everywhere and some of the painters had about as much on them as they did the wall, but, nonetheless, all were having a good time and sharing their talents with individuals in the community who were unable to complete the task. They are members of the 150 youth team from Hopkins County that chose to participate in Work Camp 2009, and serve the community!

"We are painting 15 houses in Sulphur Springs for individuals that are elderly or disabled and cannont complete the task themselves," explained one of the crew leaders. "The youth met Sunday night at Shannon Oaks Church and began the camp with devotionals and a period of work. They have plans to have the houses painted by Tuesday at noon and complete the camp on Tuesday night, with a banquet and family fellowship!"

"It's a great opportunity to come out and have fun, share your 'muscle' with the community, doing a little bit of work for someone who doesn't have the ability, and having a good time doing it," advised Stephen Kramer, a recent SSHS graduate. "I've participated in the program each year of high school and find that it gives you a good feeling of helping others."

Local church youth groups join together to complete the annual project and many, like Kramer, return year after year to experience the fellowship and since of giving back to the community. Youth from Shannon Oaks, First United Methodist, Pickton Methodist, and Davis Street Baptist all participated in this year's program.

Chow time!!!!
