
Yantis Man Dies in
Saturday Morning Accident on Hwy 154

Longtime Yantis resident, C.E. "Goob" Fite, 90 plus years old, died enroute to East Texas Medical Center, where he was being transported via Air Evacuation, from the scene of an accident on Hwy 154, at the south city limits of Sulphur Springs. Mr. Fite was driving a northbound car that collided with a truck and trailer that was making a turn into a hay meadow, off Hwy 154, with farm implements on the trailer.
The accident, that occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, was investigated by the Sulphur Springs Police Department, and had traffic stopped for about 30 minutes on the busy highway south of Sulphur Springs.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. Fite are pending with Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
