Yantis Names Top Students
at Thursday Awards Assembly

Class Salutatorian, Ty Davis, left, and Valedictorian, Alyssa Bussell, were among the
top scholarship winners at Thursday's Awards Assembly at Yantis High School.

 

"We've had an outstanding year at Yantis School!" exclaimed High School Principal, Michael Alphin, as he welcomed parents, guests, and began Thursday's annual awards program at the school. "We've won our second in a row District UIL Championship, we've placed second in State UIL with a spelling team, and placed two more individuals at the state contest, and our students are poised to receive over $30,000.00 in scholarships, today!"

Alphin began Thursday's program with recognizing the students that had perfect attendance and the program ended with the presentation of a number of scholarships to members of the Class of 2012.

Alphin presented Ty Davis with the DAAR Scholarship.

 

Ty Davis, Sarah McCullough, Amy Bryant, and Shayna Garrett each received a scholarship from
the Lake Country Neighbors Association.

 

Ty Davis received the Professional Land & Title Scholarship from Markeda Fisher and Kayla Price.

 

Shayna Garrett and Ty Davis were the recipients of the Yantis Masonic Lodge #382 Awards.

 

 

 

 

Rocio Olayo, Shayna Garrett, Alyssa Bussell, and Amy Bryant each received a $4000.00 Tyler Junior
College Scholarship.

 

Alyssa Bussell received the Pilot Club of Quitman Scholarship.

 

Brian Irby received the Lake Country Classic Car Club Scholarship.

 

Ty Davis and Alyssa Bussell received the Yantis Booster Club Scholarships.

 

 

 

 

Ty Davis received the City National Bank Scholarship.

 

Alyssa Bussell, Amy Bryant, Shayna Garrett, and Ty Davis received the Yantis Lions
Club Scholarships.

 

Sarah McCullough received the Retired Teachers Scholarship.
