The cold rain was pouring down outside and the Yantis Owls Basketball Team and their fans traveled to Mt. Pleasant, on Friday night, to receive the end of a great, great season. The fast-paced Owls were held to only 38 points and the McLeod Longhorns managed to score 48, in the area play-off match-up. "It's been a great season and the boys played hard, throughout the game," expressed Yantis Basketball Coach Jack Bowles. "But, we just couldn't manage to get ahead of them and capture the win, to continue in the play-offs. You know it's got to end somewhere, but we were hoping that it didn't end quite this soon!"

Leading the Owls in scoring were Junior Allen Rose with 14 points in the bucket and Senior Corey Thompson, who contributed 8 points in his final game as a Yantis Owl. Senior Tony Garcia, another Owl playing his last basketball game, added another 7 points to the Owls effort. Rose and Garcia had only one 3-point shot to their credit and 3-point scoring ace, Ty Davis, who has almost always been in "double figures" was held to only one lone point in the game. Senior Jeremy Smith was also held to only one point in the controlled match-up.

Stats for the game are as follows:
Yantis 8 5 13 12 --38
McLeod 7 10 18 13 --48
Scoring: Yantis-Tony Garcia-7, Jereme Smith-1, Jordan Lewis-2, Matthew Crayton-3, Ty Davis-1, Allen Rose-14, Corey Thompson-10;
McLeod-Heston McLaurin-8, Dillon Keener-2, Andy Otwell-2, Grayson Porter-3, Alex Hernandez-6, Douglas Autry-27.

"Our boys will be looking to spring sports to get underway and when I look at the team, I know I'm losing some great seniors," acknowledge Bowles. "But, we've got some real promise to come build on the foundation for next year, and hopefully come back with another successful run!"

Congratulations, Yantis Owls
On A Great, Great Season!!!
