Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport
Hosts Young Eagles Fly-In, Saturday
by: Bobby McDonald
Youth and airplanes.....that's what it was all about Saturday, at the Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport, as they hosted the annual Young Eagles Fly-In Program, sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association. The organization offered free flights for youth ages 8-17.

While in the air, the youth were instructed in how to identify reference points using aeronautical charts and they were instructed in proper maintenance of airplanes.
"This was great!" exclaimed Jesse Williams, following a flight with Roger Elliott. "I participated every year or anytime that I can get an opportunity to fly. I love it!"

Saturday found 72 local youth participating in the program and each left the plane with a broad smile on their face!
"It's just one of the ways that we can give back to the community and interest youth in the area in flying!"
confirmed Elliott, a local plane owner.
