Four year old, Addison Monk, displays the rod and reel that
she was awarded at Saturday's Youth Fishing Day. She's now
"hooked" as a Lady Angler!

Saturday's Youth Fishing Tournament, at Peavine Pinion Lake, in Buford Park, attracted youth of all ages, as they and their parents braved the cold temperatures and had fun, angling for small trout, that the lake had been stocked with. Sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club and the Texas Parks and WildLife Department, the annual event always brings a number of youth anglers to the water, for a day of quality time and fun for everyone.

"This may be the only time that some of these youth get the opportunity to go fishing, and we're about making it a special day for them," allowed one of the local organizers. "It's an opportunity for them to catch a fish, win some prizes and spend quality time with an adult!"

Koree Clark, age 10, of Sulphur Springs, remarked that he hadn't caught a fish
yet, but that he was having loads of fun, despite Saturday's cold temperatures.

Youth and the adult sponsors definitely needed a warm coat, on Saturday afternoon, but that didn't discourage the ethusiasm, as everyone had a great time, regardless of how many fish they caught!

"It was a great day!" summed up Roxane Rich, with the Sulphur Springs Kiwanis Club, and a longtime supporter of the event. "We had hot dogs, awarded a number of prizes donated by local businesses, but more importantly, the kids had loads of fun and left with smiling faces!"

Youth anglers and their adult sponsors lined the banks of Peavine Pinion Lake, on Saturday
to participate in a day of fun!
